Madison – Mayor Dave Cieslewicz today named Charles "Chuck" Kamp as the new General Manager for Madison's Metro Transit system. Kamp currently oversees the Valley Transit system in the Appleton and Fox Cities region of Wisconsin.

"Chuck Kamp comes to Madison with a great deal of experience, and he has a vision for building on Metro's growth," said Cieslewicz. "As our community continues to grow, we need a robust, affordable, innovative transit system. Chuck will help us build that system. I also hope he will use his experience building a regional system in the Fox Cities to help us continue our push towards regional transit in the Madison area."

Kamp has served as General Manager of the Valley Transit system since 1991. Prior to that, he held various management positions for 10 years with the Washington Metro Area Transit Authority in Washington, DC. He is married and has three children aged 23, 20 and 15 years old.

"I'm looking forward to building on the successes of Madison Metro," said Kamp. "It will be an exciting new challenge to work on new visions for public transportation in the Madison region."

Pending confirmation by the Common Council, Kamp is expected to begin work on October 16. He will be paid $100,000 annually.
