Mayor needs to listen better

The Capital Times,January 5, 2009

Dear Editor:

I find it ironic that Mayor Dave is so insistent about the bus fare increases. He was the one who wasted taxpayer money on studies for his pet trolley project, which was totally unfeasible. And now he is trying to shove a bus fare increase down everyone's throats.

Increasing fares would decrease ridership and could end up losing money in the end. But apparently the mayor assumes that everyone makes as much money as he does and can afford the increase. In these tough times, when people are losing their jobs and homes, the last thing they need is to be forced to pay more to ride the bus.

I wish the mayor would learn from his trolley fiasco that it is a good idea to listen to other people's opinions. Or maybe we need a new mayor.
